Description
Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking to hire a Fleet and Safety Coordinator. The Fleet and Safety Coordinator position oversees strategic planning for the departmental safety program and manages the equipment and fleet operations. Responsibilities include providing sustainable budgetary recommendations for the acquisition and maintenance of fleet and equipment, as well as driving the development and implementation of the department’s safety strategy, protocols, and innovations. The role also entails coordinating a team of highly skilled supervisors across multiple workgroups to enhance and uphold the safety standards for both staff and park users.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work during regular work hours, with flexible hours available. This position will work out of 5201 St. Vrain Drive, Longmont, CO 80503. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $75,984.00 - $92,736.00 Annually

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Examples of Duties
- Develops and implements departmental safety programs and policies, including recommending safety protocols and guidelines for both field and office personnel.

Provides leadership to the Department Safety Committee, promoting best practices and innovation in occupational safety.

Supports the development of the Fleet and Safety components of the department’s annual work plan.

Leads the preparation and management of the department’s annual Fleet and Safety budgets.

Leads and administers recommended safety training programs for staff.

May supervise, plan, organize, assign, and review the work of seasonal or full-time park employees to ensure alignment with established goals and objectives.

Serves as the project manager, coordinating and overseeing parks maintenance projects in collaboration with Boulder County personnel and external agencies.

Analyzes vehicle use metrics using telematics and fleet management software to identify trends and areas for operational and/or safety improvement.

Manages accident and incident reporting processes in compliance with relevant regulations.

Maintains comprehensive knowledge of National, State, County, and departmental regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to fleet and workplace safety.

Performs additional related duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a high school graduation or equivalent and a minimum of five years in safety leadership, program development, occupational safety, fleet management, or a related field, with at least two years in a lead capacity.
Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Public Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field. Professional certifications, such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Fleet Manager (CFM) OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour certification Certified Director of Safety (CDS)
