The Opportunity: Front of House Manager
We are looking for a driven and experienced Front of House Manager to take a leadership role in our vibrant and fast-paced restaurant environment. As Front of House Manager, you will be instrumental in creating a welcoming and memorable dining experience for every guest. This role requires a unique blend of strong leadership skills, a genuine passion for hospitality, and a deep understanding of food service management. You will play a vital role in cultivating a positive and productive team atmosphere while upholding our high standards of service and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee all aspects of daily front of house operations, ensuring seamless service, exceptional guest satisfaction, and adherence to company standards. Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate updates and expectations.
- Team Management & Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise a team of servers, hosts, and bartenders. Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment, provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations, and address any personnel issues promptly and professionally. Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
- Service Excellence: Maintain a high level of service quality by consistently monitoring guest interactions, addressing concerns, and implementing strategies to enhance the overall dining experience. Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a timely and effective manner, aiming to exceed guest expectations.
- Financial Oversight: Manage front of house financials, including point-of-sale (POS) system operations, cash handling, and daily sales reports. Maintain accurate financial records, control costs, and implement strategies to maximize revenue.
- Operational Efficiency: Implement and refine operational policies and procedures to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Monitor and manage inventory levels for front of house supplies, including beverages, linens, and cleaning materials. Assist with ordering and vendor relationships as needed.
- Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate closely with the kitchen management team to ensure smooth communication, timely food delivery, and exceptional order accuracy. Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute special events and promotions, enhancing guest experience.
- Guest Engagement: Actively engage with guests to build relationships and solicit feedback. Identify and address customer preferences to create personalized experiences.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Essential Experience: Proven and substantial experience in food service management or restaurant management. A strong understanding of restaurant operations and best practices is required.
- Hospitality Expertise: A deep understanding and strong knowledge of hospitality management principles and practices is critical, including customer service, team leadership, and operational efficiency.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability in team management, including recruitment, training, motivation, and performance management. Ability to foster a collaborative and positive work environment is vital.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with POS systems and financial reporting, including sales analysis, cost control, and budget management is desired.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Ability to effectively engage with guests, staff, and management is crucial.
- Desirable Background: A background in culinary or kitchen management is highly desirable, offering valuable insights into the entire dining process and promoting effective collaboration between front and back of house teams.
