Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Gardener to work in our diverse yard. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants and landscaping, with the ability to maintain and enhance outdoor spaces. This role involves various gardening tasks, including planting, pruning, weeding. The Gardener will work both independently and with me to ensure the health and beauty of our gardens. We welcome creativity!
Duties
- Planting and Cultivating: Planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants, as well as preparing soil and ensuring proper spacing and depth.
- Maintaining Plant Health: Watering, fertilizing, pruning, and monitoring plants for signs of disease or pests, and applying appropriate treatments.
- Weeding: Removing weeds from garden beds and other landscaped areas.
- Pruning: Trimming and shaping trees, shrubs, and hedges to maintain their health and appearance.
- Landscaping: Assisting with the design and installation of new landscapes, including planting, hardscaping, and irrigation (if necessary).
- Pond and stream care: Removing weeds and overgrowth from pond and stream as needed.
- Landscaping: Assisting with the design and installation of new landscapes, including planting, hardscaping, and irrigation (if necessary).
- Pest and Disease Management: Identifying and managing pests and diseases affecting plants, using appropriate methods.
- General Garden Maintenance: Keeping gardens and landscapes clean and tidy by removing litter, debris, and deadheading flowers.
- Operating Equipment: Safely operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment, such as trimmers, and power tools.
- Following Instructions: Receiving guidance from me and carry out instructions diligently.
- Communication: Effectively communicate about garden needs and progress.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Plants: Understanding plant needs, identification, and care.
- Horticultural Skills: Experience in planting, pruning, and other gardening tasks.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in maintaining gardens and identifying potential issues.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address plant health issues and other garden problems.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients and supervisors.
- Teamwork Skills: Ability to work effectively on your own or with me.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding and adhering to safety procedures when using tools and equipment.
- Positive Attitude: Enthusiasm for gardening and a willingness to learn and improve. Love of flowers.
Hours will vary during the season. Minimal 8 hours per week through September. Starting again in March. May have other position available during winter months.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
