Woodward Inc., a global leader in providing control solutions for aerospace and industrial markets, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Emergency Manager to develop, implement, and oversee enterprise-wide emergency management strategies. This role is critical to ensuring the safety and resiliency of Woodward’s global operations, employees, and assets. The successful candidate will lead efforts to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and crises across all global locations, aligning with industry standards and enterprise risk management (ERM) principles.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop, lead, and champion emergency response initiatives globally.
- Design, implement, and mature a comprehensive global emergency management program that aligns with industry standards (e.g., ISO 22301, NFPA 1600, NIMS, NIST 800-34, FEMA guidelines) and Woodward’s ERM framework.
- Design and conduct global risk assessments and business impact analysis to identify vulnerabilities and threats, including natural disasters, technological disruptions, security incidents, and supply chain interruptions.
- Help coordinate/lead the development and maintenance of business continuity plans (BCPs), crisis management protocols, and disaster recovery plans tailored to each site globally.
- Design, establish, and lead training programs and tabletop exercises for employees, site leaders, and crisis response teams to ensure preparedness and compliance with emergency procedures.
- Maintain emergency response resources, such as communication systems, evacuation plans, and disaster recovery tools.
- Collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams (e.g., EHS, IT, HR, and Operations) to integrate emergency preparedness into daily operations.
- Serve as the primary global point of contact for emergency response and crisis management efforts.
- Coordinate real-time responses to emergencies, ensuring effective communication and decision-making among internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Monitor and report on incidents, providing post-incident analysis and recommendations to improve future response efforts.
- Collaborate with GSOC (Global Security Operation Center) management and staff on emergency response protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including international, regional, and local emergency management requirements.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging threats to adapt Woodward’s emergency management program accordingly.
- Develop and maintain all program governance, policies, testing protocols, templates, and after-action documentation.
- Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, emergency services, and industry associations to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.
- Partner with suppliers and contractors to ensure alignment with Woodward’s emergency management expectations.
- Act as a subject matter expert to advise leadership on risk mitigation strategies and emergency planning investments.
- Communicate program performance and emerging risks to senior executives and the Board through clear, data-driven reporting.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Risk Management, Business Continuity, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in emergency management, crisis response, or business continuity planning, or related field preferably in a global or manufacturing environment.
- Industry certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Associate Emergency Manager (AEM), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), or equivalent preferred.
- FEMA ICS (Incident Command System) certification or training is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of business resilience, business continuity, emergency management, disaster recovery and enterprise risk management (ERM) principles and practices.
- Expertise in developing and managing emergency response plans, crisis communications, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and standards (ISO, NFPA, OSHA, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and cultures.
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools and emergency management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to 30% globally as needed for site assessments, training, and incident response.
- Availability to respond to emergencies outside of standard work hours.
