Are you ready to grow into a leadership role? We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Glue / Sand Operator with the opportunity to advance to a Line Lead and/or Department Manager within 3 to 6 months.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, experience in Dimensional Lumber and/or Leadership, and a desire to learn and grow within our company. We will provide training and support to help you succeed and take on greater responsibility.
Position: Glue and Sand Operator
Position Summary: The Glue and Sand Operator is responsible for production line set up, operating machinery and forklifts, assembling components or parts, and handling materials such as feeding, off-bearing, and stacking. The operator also inspects products throughout the process to ensure they meet company quality standards.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Routinely inspect workspace for safety concerns
- Perform set-up, operate, and maintain machinery according to company and customer specifications
- Understand the mechanics and start to finish process of the glue & sand department; being able to troubleshoot and diagnose root cause issues
- Feed materials into machines specialized for wood components manufacturing
- Handle, sort, and stack product by batch and order specification
- Safely handle, sort, and stack lumber by dimension, species, and grade
- Ability to spot fine details and characteristics of wood color and grain patterns
- Inspect the finished project for uniformity to customer and company standards
- Set up the production line and check equipment before beginning production
- Complete documentation and note line issues at the end of each shift
- Notify management of emergencies immediately
- Ability to learn and train others to the job requirements
- Maintain a safe work area clear from debris, clutter, and dust
- Adhere to company policies and SOPs. Notify the supervisor/team lead of potential procedural improvements
- Ensure quality of product according to customer and company standards
- Must be safety conscious, have a positive attitude, and work well in a team environment
- Maintain an excellent attendance record
Minimum Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent preferred, but not required
- 3+ years in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Basic understanding of measurements
- Ability to perform in a fast, labor-intensive environment with exposure to dust particles and loud machinery
- Ability to lift 20-60 pounds
- Ability to stand/walk 10 hours per shift + breaks
- Capability of performing repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Ability to speak, understand, and write fluently in English
