We are looking to hire a group home lead for a group home in the Wharton area; the home serves individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. The group homes are open 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We assist the individuals with activities of daily living, i.e. meal preparation, administration of medication, bathing/showering assistance, house cleaning. Transportation to community activities, day habilitation sites, and medical appointments is required. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Must be physically able to handle aggressive clients. The lead works a regular shift at the house and works when there is a staff shortage. The lead is responsible for scheduling and attending doctors appointments, ensuring medications are in the homes, maintaining regular contact with the nurse and case coordinator. The lead also attends meetings related to the individuals who reside in the home. The lead works with the case coordinator in ensuring the individuals have their supplies and the homes also have the supplies needed.
The right candidate must be flexible and professional. The lead staff must be willing to work during staff shortages. Computer skills are required, as well as good communication skills. Must be able to work with a team of people to meet the needs of the individuals we serve, including families. The group home lead is responsible for training new staff.
A valid driver's license is required, a DPS check will be completed to determine validity and insurability. A high school diploma is required. Must have reliable transportation.
Salary starts at $15.00.
