We are currently hiring for a Handyman to support the maintenance operations of a beautiful waterfront hotel in Norfolk, VA. The Handyman will be responsible for performing minor repairs, routine maintenance tasks, and assisting with general upkeep of the property's interior and exterior areas. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of appearance and functionality throughout the hotel.
Salary: $17.00/hr - Weekly Pay
Handyman Responsibilities:
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to guests.
- Address plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general facility repair needs.
- Respond to guest and team requests efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure a safe and hazard-free environment by following safety procedures.
- Maintain records of work performed and coordinate with other departments.
- Assist with inventory and upkeep of tools and supplies.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on systems and equipment.
- Complete routine inspections and identify potential maintenance issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure maintenance issues are communicated and resolved.
- Support safety and emergency procedures as required.
Handyman Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
- At least 1 year of experience in a general maintenance or handyman role, preferably in hospitality or commercial property.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, HVAC, and carpentry.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks, including bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
