Position Purpose
O.A. Newton Hardware in Bridgeville, DE is seeking an experienced Hardware Store Manager who would be responsible for overseeing customer service and inventory, as well as the sales floor team.
Principal Responsibilities
The Hardware Store Manager is expected to foster an in-store experience with positively reviewed customer service, rooted in product knowledge and availability.
- Establish team objectives for increased sales, exceptional customer service, cost-effective solutions, and evolving product knowledge.
- Manage sales team performance and daily workflow.
- Run point on all sales and customer service for the Irrigation product line.
- Practice business demonstrating O.A. Newton’s core values including integrity, self-accountability, selflessness, adaptability and dependability.
- Represent customer service and financial outcomes with O.A. Newton company leadership. Propose ideas for ongoing improvement within the scope of the position.
- Evaluate and strengthen the organizational structure of processes for improvement.
- Identify gaps in product offering or operations and present transformative solutions.
- Competitively shop regionally and nationally as a resource for growing the O.A. Newton Hardware store in trend and function.
- Exercise ownership on the sales floor, ensuring a successful shopping environment. Ensure there are no shelving vacancies, that there is effective packaging, product placement and flow is optimized, pricing is clear and accurate, and rotated merchandise ensures that products are visually accessible at their peak purchase opportunities.
The Hardware Store Manager reports to the Senior Management of the Company and actively manages the retail sales floor team. The Hardware Store Manager also works alongside all associates of O.A. Newton, including the administrative team and other businesses. This position works together with product and service vendors, as well as large-business accounts. This position may require minimal travel.
Skill & Knowledge Requirements
- Experience is required in retail sales, management, and product knowledge including the irrigation products that are part of the business.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required.
- This job requires continuous standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and ladder use. Applicants should be able to maneuver up to 50lbs. without assistance. All reasonable accommodation will be made.
- An understanding of the financial aspects of a retail business is required.
- Events, holidays, evenings and weekends may be required at times. This should be considered before applying to this position and is non-negotiable.
- Computer skills are required.
- Forklift certification is required upon hire.
