Join us in a collaborative, inclusive environment as we serve our local communities and work toward being recognized as a Fortune Magazine "Best Company To Work For."

About This Role

Every position at Common Citizen contributes to our mission of providing Michigan citizens with the highest quality, safest cannabis products. The Harvest & Destem Citizen is a vital member of our Production Team, engaged in hands-on plant handling from harvest through post-harvest processes, including the important destemming/debucking stage. You’ll collaborate with a supportive team while ensuring quality and consistency across all plant-handling activities.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Harvest Duties:

  • Follow Standard Work procedures for all harvest tasks to ensure consistent, high-quality product output.

  • Track plant activity in METRC (or other state software), including tagging, batch entries, and waste tracking.

  • Conduct pre-harvest fan leaf removal and enter waste accordingly.

  • Cut down plants, weigh wet material, and hang for drying.

  • Perform post-dry removal of flowers from stems for curing.

  • Monitor and report plant health issues (disease, pests, deficiencies).

  • Keep workspace clean and organized to minimize contamination risk.

Destem Duties:

  • Efficiently remove cannabis buds from stems after drying while preserving bud integrity.

  • Label containers accurately and clearly for inventory tracking and traceability.

  • Meet or exceed daily destemming quotas while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Identify and report any inconsistencies or quality concerns during the destem process.

  • Ensure compliance with product handling SOPs and cleanliness standards.

Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with fellow Harvest Citizens and Production team members.

  • Apply professional, respectful communication to maintain a positive team dynamic.

  • Support training and development with a continuous improvement mindset.

The Experience You Bring and the Skills We Need:
  • Experience in agriculture, food safety, or high-volume production preferred.

  • Familiarity with cannabis track-and-trace systems like METRC is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail, consistency, and organization.

  • Efficient work ethic and ability to meet performance quotas.

  • Understanding of common plant issues (pests, mold, deficiencies).

  • Proficient in basic computer functions and documentation.

  • Accountability, honesty, and integrity in all tasks.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods during 10-hour shifts.

  • Must frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs.

  • Capable of repetitive motion tasks with hands, wrists, and arms.

  • Comfortable working in a greenhouse setting with varying temperature and humidity.

Why You’d Love This Role

You:

  • Embody our values of "Cannabis for Humanity" and "Change for the Better".

  • Have a passion for the cannabis plant from seed to sale.

  • Believe in teamwork and mutual respect.

  • Are driven to learn, grow, and contribute to a pioneering team in the cannabis industry.

  • Appreciate the rhythm and detail of both the harvest and post-harvest process.

  • Can commit to not participating in a home grow operation to maintain biosecurity.

Benefits
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits starting the 1st of the month after hire.

  • Paid time off and holidays.

  • Employee discounts and wellness programs.

  • Company-paid life insurance.

  • Employee assistance program.

  • 401K + matching.
