Job Purpose

The Heavy Equipment Shop Technician is responsible for the repair of construction machines, component assemblies, and parts in the shop, including diagnosing, parts ordering, technical report writing, warranty reporting, maintaining care of company assets, and proper communication with others. ROMCO is currently seeking a talented and driven heavy equipment shop mechanic to join the team supporting the Sierra Machinery - El Paso, TX branch operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be alert and is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds long distances (more than 20 feet). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The position requires the frequent use of hand and power tools. This position may require the use and operation of a vehicle and various heavy equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Working Conditions and Additional Requirements

This job operates in a shop environment. Operational hours can be from 7:00am to 5:00pm with occasional needs outside standard business hours to accommodate meetings, training, and projects. Some travel may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and mobile devices. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
