Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced High School Science Tutor to join our dynamic academic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in science and the flexibility to teach a variety of high school-level courses, including but not limited to:
- Physics: General Physics, Honors Physics, AP Physics 1 & 2 (Algebra-Based), AP Physics C: Mechanics, and AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism
- Biology: General Biology, AP Biology
- Chemistry: General Chemistry, AP Chemistry
- Environmental Science: Environmental Studies, AP Environmental Science
We are looking for a passionate educator who can create an engaging and inclusive learning environment while fostering students’ critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and academic confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Deliver Instruction: Prepare and teach high-quality lessons that align with course standards and promote inquiry-based learning.
- Foster Inclusive Classrooms: Build a respectful and supportive learning space that encourages student engagement, collaboration, and appreciation for diverse perspectives.
- Differentiate Instruction: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the varying needs of learners, including English language learners and students with learning differences.
- Assess and Support Student Progress: Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate understanding and provide constructive, timely feedback.
- Maintain a Positive Learning Environment: Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a structured and productive academic setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Valid secondary-level teaching certification in Science (preferred but not required)
- At least two years of recent teaching or tutoring experience at the high school level, with demonstrated success in science instruction
- Familiarity with a range of instructional strategies, assessment tools, and educational technologies
- Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the academic success of all students
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
