Hands-on Care Needed For My Mother In Quakertown
About who needs care: Mom has Lewy body dementia with parkinsonism, and is recovering from a small stroke. Dad is able bodied but needs help getting her out of bed in the morning and dressed, as well as getting her to bed at night, using the toilet, and occasional sponge baths. Mom is actually very strong, and some days can stand up on her own, or with minimal help. Other days, she doesn't seem to be making the connections necessary for standing, so transferring her takes some muscle and a strong back. (She weighs 140)
She is almost always happy and silly, or calm and quiet. She loves to sing old novelty songs.
About the care needs: We're looking for someone patient and kind. If you enjoy being silly, Mom will, too.
Right now the hours are short shifts, but may expand in time. The evening shift is currently covered by another caregiver, so we are looking for someone from 8 AM-10 AM in the morning every day except Saturday, as well as ideally, Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Our current caregiver is willing to alternate weeks doing Tuesdays and Sunday morning.
If only part of this schedule is an option for you, please contact us anyway. We are not against hiring two people to cover the hours if necessary.
