Salary Range: This is a non-exempt position with a range of $22.71-$29.99 per hour.
The Individual Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist will handle billing and cash application for both individual and retiree customers, as well as address any unpaid balances or billing inquiries. Responsibilities include researching customer balances, responding to email and phone inquiries, creating debit or credit memo adjustments, generating monthly reports, and providing technical expertise with billing and cash application systems.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, or the equivalent with two years of accounting or accounts receivable/billing experience, or an Associate Degree in Accounting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive expertise in billing processes, billing systems, and collection practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding organizational abilities.
- Fundamental proficiency in Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) banking processes.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel and members.
- Requires six (6) months to one (1) year on-the-job training to perform the job effectively.
- Requires a successful credit background check as appropriate.
Essential Functions:
- Perform payment application duties for individual and retiree customers, including any necessary account research.
- Generate invoice claims files for claims billing and submit to customers. Typically, this occurs four times a month on the 1st,9th,15th,16th business days of the month.
- Provide email and phone support to customers regarding their account balances, payment history, and online account setup.
- Process refunds and necessary adjustments while also reviewing unapplied or open balances.
- Post lockbox amounts for individual and retirees.
- Monitor accounts receivable and open balances from individual and retirees. Send past-due notices if necessary.
- Run delinquency report of individual and retirees on a reliability hold. Generate termination and collection letters. Refer to third party collection if no payment is received.
- Perform monthly or quarterly account reconciliations as needed.
- Apply credit or debit memos to customer accounts as necessary, including researching variances and properly posting amounts to customer balances.
- Ensure that individuals and retirees have paid all outstanding balances and/or amounts are refunded to groups that term after payment.
- Review new account set up and invoices monthly.

- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
