Information Technology Technician

7.5 hours per day, 260 days per year (year round)
Summary:
The Information Technology Technician provides tier 1 and tier 2 supports to the staff and students at Kent ISD and at districts that contract IT services from the Kent ISD technology department. The primary focus of the IT technician is to ensure that technology is available as needed to support the educational process.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in CIS or a related field preferred
- Certification as IT Technician preferred (CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
- Must have technical knowledge and experience in desktop installation and troubleshooting of Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android operating systems with experience in Chrome OS helpful
- Must have the ability to remotely troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Must be knowledgeable in Active Directory for both user and management aspects
- Needs technical knowledge and experience in desktop installation and troubleshooting of educational and office applications. Examples include Microsoft Office Suite, PowerSchool, Adobe Creative Suite, Sophos Anti-virus, FileMaker Pro, AutoCAD, SCCM, Track-it, TeamViewer, Camtasia, Java, and Kronos
- Must have the ability to solve a wide range of desktop software and hardware problems, including virus and Spyware removal
- Effectively and efficiently conduct work via time management, organizational skills and attention to details
- Excellent customer service skills
- Available to periodically work after hours in support of testing and troubleshooting
- Timely and effective communication, both verbal and written
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve computer problems.
- Deploy new computer equipment.
- Provide orientation and guidance to users on new ISD software.
- Repair laptop and desktop computers.
- Maintain records of repairs and work in the Help Desk system.
- Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
- Effectively manage system documentation for disaster recovery purposes.
- Ability to travel to schools/programs throughout the region.
- Maintain data confidentiality and FERPA compliance.
- Effectively communicate, both written and in person, with Kent ISD and constituent district staff.
- Collaboration with colleagues and vendors to achieve departmental and project outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with competing priorities, while maintaining attention to details.
- Commitment to quality customer service both internal and external customers
- Adhere to cybersecurity safeguards and protocols
- Regular and consistent employee attendance
- Adhere to departmental processes and procedures, as well as Board policies
