JOB SUMMARY:
The IRD Food Runner is responsible for set up of Room Service carts/ trays, organizing plates, delivering food from kitchen to the guests, explaining food items to the guests, delivering amenities and completing side work in In-Room Dining.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares Room Service carts with ordered food and beverage.
- Delivers Room Service orders to hotel rooms.
- Ensures the guest’s needs are met, by ensuring orders are correct upon delivery and explaining food items to the guest.
- Ensures all areas are kept clean.
- Properly use equipment, tools or systems to complete assigned tasks and complies with company safety standards.
- Develop a working knowledge of any rules, regulations and internal controls applicable to position.
- Complete all paperwork in accordance with hotel standards.
- Cash handling and/or check settlement
- Adhere to and complies with both departmental and overall property policies and procedures.
- Picks up trays according to department specifications or upon guest request.
- Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

- Must have a valid drivers license.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form.
- Interpersonal skills with focused attention on guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- One (1) year previous work experience in a comparable position preferred.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Possess basic food & service knowledge.
- Ability to learn and use telephone and POS computer systems used at the hotel.
- Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
- Must know all applicable health standards. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations and company policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.
