SUMMARY
The IT Technician is responsible for maintaining computer systems within a business setting. Duties include installing computers and other technology-related hardware, updating and repairing existing systems and troubleshooting problems with hardware. Also reviews and proactively manages the life cycle of investments in information technology to optimize assets, control and reduce costs, mitigate risk and drive compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
- Providing technical support to the Corporate Office in Lynchburg, VA.
- Taking detailed inventory of the organization’s technology-related hardware assets and applying the information gathered in making the best decision concerning technology-related hardware purchases and redistribution for the organization.
- Managing and maintaining databases and records of information such as warranties for the organization’s technology-related hardware.
- Maintaining detailed inventory of the organization’s technology-related hardware assets and applying the information gathered in making the best decision concerning technology-related hardware purchases and redistribution for the organization.
- Helps the organization to eliminate waste and increase efficiency by making the best use of existing IT asset resources and avoiding asset purchases that are unnecessary.
- Develops and maintains processes, policies, standards and systems that help the organization to effectively manage its IT asset portfolio of technology-related hardware with regards to cost, control, risk, compliance, business performance objectives, and IT Governance as established by the company.
- Responsible for ensuring quality control throughout the lifecycle of all company IT assets by developing and implementing appropriate procedures to track and manage them.
- Responsible for developing procurement strategies across the organization that optimizes technology spend.
- Source/procure, deploy, configure, troubleshoot, repair and manage Windows workstations/Laptops, RF scanners, printers, and other technology-related hardware assets.
- Recycle end-of-life IT Equipment.
- Management of company-owned mobile devices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Business technical school graduate or the equivalent work experience. Knowledge of technology-related hardware. Prior experience with ManageEngine Endpoint Central Cloud and/or StayLinked SmartTE is a plus.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A+ Certification preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong negotiation skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume will be needed.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS
Ability to carry out assigned tasks independently with little supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, frequent climbing of stars, and occasional carrying, balancing, kneeling, bending and reaching. There is potential for eye strain from reading detailed materials and looking at a computer screen. must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or carry materials weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift an/or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
