Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join the Howe Company team. The ideal candidate will assist in the sourcing and purchasing of materials, ensuring that our production needs are met efficiently and effectively. This role is essential in maintaining optimal inventory levels while supporting the overall supply chain management process.
Responsibilities
Procure Ingredients & Packaging
- Keep purchase history and pricing records current and organized.
- Issue and track purchase orders for raw ingredients, packaging, and supplies.
- Ensure all materials meet food safety and quality standards.
Vendor Coordination
- Communicate with suppliers about lead times, availability, and delivery updates.
- Request certificates of analysis (COAs), allergen statements, and spec sheets as needed.
Monitor Inventory Levels
- Check stock levels of ingredients and packaging materials.
- Reorder items to prevent stockouts or overstocking, using inventory management systems.
Price & Cost Tracking
- Assist in comparing prices and monitoring cost changes in key commodities.
- Support cost-saving initiatives by researching alternative suppliers or materials.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Ensure purchases comply with food safety regulations (e.g., USDA, FDA, SQF).
- Maintain documentation for traceability and audits.
Supplier Qualification Support
- Help gather documentation for supplier approvals or onboarding.
- Track performance issues or non-conformances with vendors.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work with R&D, production, Marketing, and QA teams on new product launches or material changes.
- Assist logistics or warehouse teams with receiving or freight coordination.
System & Record Maintenance
- Enter and update item, vendor, and PO info in ERP systems.
- Keep purchase history and pricing records current and organized.
Document Management
- Scanning and filing as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
