The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Assist the Juvenile and Jury Clerk to keep the area current and to perform all duties within these areas in the absence of the clerk(s)
- Folds and stuffs envelopes with Juror Qualification Questionnaires and return envelopes.
- Review and help enter juror questionnaires for eligibility.
- Composes and types various letters and memoranda.
- Attends juvenile hearings daily.
- Assign GAL/attorneys to cases if needed.
- Responds to inquiries about cases in above areas.
- Answers telephone calls and opens mail.
- Schedules Court Appearances for the above areas.
- Maintains daily court calendar. Types weekly calendar & distributes.
- Get Judges approval & prepares vouchers to pay attorney/GAL bills.
- Creates & maintains files including docketing of subsequent papers for the above areas and closes out cases.
- Prepare orders for non-secure or secure detention.
- Assist with the planning of jury panels & help out in court with jurors. Prepare paperwork for jury trials.
Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be a proficient typist with computer experience in data entry. Must have good verbal, telephone, and correspondence skills. Proficient in legal and business English, spelling and grammar.
Must have knowledge of court practices, procedures, and other legal references. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and efficient clerical processing methods. Ability to exercise discretion with regard to confidentiality of judicial proceedings and cases.
Training and Experience:
High school graduation with 2-3 years of experience in a law practice office or court related work.
