Position summary: Responsible for the supervision and safety of children, while providing high quality Prime Time programs that allow for positive interaction with children and their families.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned Assist in maintaining the necessary records involving attendance and sign-inlsign-out sheets. When releasing child(ren), insure the proper release procedures are followed and appropriate identification is shown. Inform parents of the system used for accountability of the children. Be prepared to describe the program features and procedures. Maintain good public relations with parents and direct serious matters to the Coordinator or Program Director. Set up and break down equipment as necessary. Responsible for the health and safety of Prime Time participants. Cautioning them regarding unsafe practices and conditions. Perform rescue/first aid when necessary. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports. Maintain a neat, clean and pleasant environment. Report deficiencies in equipment and supplies to the Coordinator or Program Director. Arriving prepared for the scheduled shift, which includes arriving for duty 15 minutes prior; in proper attire; prepared for constant concentration and visual surveillance of participants with no distractions Find coverage for self in the event of an absence and then notify the Coordinator or Program Director of the change. Responsible for attending staff meetings/events. Demonstrate and teach the Character Development values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. Be a member service ambassador remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules. Being prepared to provide personalized direction to other YMCA services. Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA Communicate with members, make them feel welcome and address them by name

Education and/or Experience: High School (GED) Preferred
Reasoning Ability: Ability to anticipate, identify and address members needs to ensure safety and enjoyment. To accurately complete all required paperwork. To professionally handle and or get help to resolve conflict. Ability to follow instructions as given and/or directed by supervisor. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certifications / Training: Within first two months of employment: CPR/ First Aid Certification Listen First Child Abuse Prevention Meet RI DCYF or MA OCCS requirements Participating in ongoing education in early childhood development Must complete a minimum of 20 hours of training per year, i.e. attendance at Early Childhood Conference, Childcare Symposium and Y’s Way to Child Care program offerings. Hazard Communications Training It is the Employees responsibility to maintain all certifications and renew in a timely manner in accordance with Certifying Organization.
