The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence to lead the AI team at Authorize.Net. This role involves driving the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions to enhance our payment processing platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, AI/ML, and team leadership, with a passion for innovation and delivering high-impact solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the AI team in designing and implementing AI-driven features and enhancements for the Authorize.Net platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and engineering, to define AI strategies and roadmaps.
- Architect scalable and robust AI solutions that align with business goals and technical requirements.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in AI and software engineering.
- Ensure the quality, performance, and security of AI applications through rigorous testing and code reviews.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in AI development, including model training, evaluation, and deployment.
The Work:
Develop code and systems impacting 40% of the global population while influencing Visa internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
Collaborate across teams to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for various Visa technical offerings
Drive product quality improvements, enhance service technology, and innovate business flows within diverse agile teams

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
- Programming Languages: Knowledge of and ability to develop code in one of the languages C#, C++, JavaScript, Java in support of product development. This includes the extension of capabilities of packages and products.
- Web Browser Optimization: The ability to select the best available values of some objective function to improve the functional effectiveness of web applications.
- API Design and Development: The ability to design, develop and maintain Application Program Interfaces (APIs), a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications that specify how software components should interact and are used when programming graphical user interface
- GenAI: Experiene leading the AI team in designing and implementing AI-driven features and enhancements

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $160,600.00 to 232,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
