Rivers Health is seeking a Per Diem, licensed Dietician to perform the following duties:
JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, administers, directs and controls all activities
related to patient nutritional care and food service to ensure
high quality standards of operation and compliance with government
and accrediting agency standards and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.
The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Establishes, updates, and maintains policies, procedures and
standards of care to reflect facility's needs.
- Develops and implements appropriate patient/resident menu
program.
- Establish and maintain an efficient and effective program for
patient screening, assessment, care planning and counseling.
- Establish and maintain medical record documentation standards
in order to effectively communicate, in writing, nutritional
care recommendations to medical and interdisciplinary staff.
- Use and maintain currently approved Nutrition Care Manual which
reflects the philosophy of the medical staff.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with medical,
nursing, administrative and nutrition staff.
- Provide in-service education for food service employees regarding
clinical nutrition policies and nutrition therapy as appropriate.
- Provide input into assembly and distribution of patient food
service, i.e., efficiency of service, temperatures, taste,
appearance and accuracy of trays.
- Participate in the department's Performance Improvement
process.
- Participate in interdisciplinary committees.
- Provide outpatient nutrition services to promote a cost-
effective, high quality outpatient program.
- Works independently following applicable policies as well as
professional standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
- Complies with Hospital Policies, Departmental Policies and
Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
- Successfully passes all JCAHO accreditation surveys without
recommendations.
- Keeps the Food Service Director fully informed of all significant
developments and events.
- Is consistently supportive of the hospital leadership and mission
and is a positive team member at all times.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on
quality improvement teams.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
Registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration preferred. Licensed dietitian with West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians. Must have food handler’s card.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years’ experience as a Clinical Dietitian.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated management and leadership skills. Good written and oral
communication skills. Must be able to communicate with and understand
patients of all ages including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents and
geriatrics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects
weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires walking or standing to a significant

seeing.
