Role:
The LMS Functional Analyst will support a contract for a US Federal Agency to migrate existing LMS courses and student content from legacy LMS solutions to a new LMS solution. This position will support the project leadership, project team, and the customer to define and document the required processes and data needed in the target LMS platform based on the capabilities and content from multiple source LMS systems. The duties span across business analysis, stakeholder engagement, system configuration, and validation.
Duties:
The LMS Functional Analyst will:
- Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand current learning processes, pain points, and desired outcomes.

Analyze legacy LMS capabilities, including:
- Course structures
- Learning paths
- Certifications
- Reporting
- User roles and permissions
- Document functional requirements for the target LMS, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance needs.

Compare legacy LMS features with target LMS capabilities to identify:
- Feature gaps (e.g., workflows, automation, reporting)
- Customization needs in new LMS
- Data migration challenges (e.g., metadata mismatches, historical records)
- Define target LMS configuration to meet business needs:
- Hierarchies (organizations, positions)
- Programs and certifications
- Audiences and dynamic rules
- Learning plans and competencies
- Recommend plugins or custom development where out-of-the-box features fall short.

Collaborate with technical teams to:
- Map legacy LMS data fields to target LMS equivalents
- Define transformation rules for legacy data
- Validate data integrity post-migration
- Develop test cases and scripts based on requirements.

Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by:
- Coordinating test cycles
- Logging and triaging issues
- Validating fixes and enhancements
- Act as a bridge between business and technical teams.
- Provide regular updates to project sponsors and stakeholders.
- Facilitate change management by addressing concerns and promoting adoption.

Required Experience and Skills:
- 5 years of LMS experience to include:
- Deep understanding of LMS.
- Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, AICC, and other eLearning standards.
- Business Analysis
- Requirements elicitation and documentation.
- Process mapping and workflow analysis.
- Gap analysis between legacy and target systems.
- Stakeholder Management
- Ability to engage with business users, SMEs, and technical teams.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience leading workshops and requirement sessions.
- Functional Design & Documentation
- Writing functional specifications and user stories.
- Creating configuration guides and test cases.
- Translating business needs into system configurations.
- Testing & Validation
- UAT planning and coordination.
- Test script creation and defect tracking.
- Hands-on system validation and troubleshooting.
- Project Collaboration
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid project environments.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
