Stacker Operator

Job Summary:
The Stacker Operator is responsible for moving material through the stacker (incising where applicable), sticking and de-sticking while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times.

Essential Functions/Duties:
- Work with a safety mindset at all times.
- Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant.
- Move material across stackers in a safe and productive manner without sacrificing quality.
- Mentor, train and guide the employees on the stacker crew.
- Ensure stamps are correct for the material and are legible on the wood.
- Monitor the stacker crew to ensure jobs are performed correctly and efficiently; raise issues or concerns to the Production Coordinator.
- Keep the stacker area clean throughout the day.
- Know emergency response procedures and be able to help in emergency situations.
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
- Computer duties as necessary.
- Other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Ability to learn safe operation of equipment.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to learn about treatments, lumber and plywood sizes, grades, and species.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
- Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
- Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one’s ability using his or her own drive or initiative.
- Computer Skills: This position does not require the use of a computer.
Work Environment:
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. It could be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy.

Training Requirements:
Immediately upon hire or assignment to the Stacker Operator position, training will take place in Safety and Environmental programs. Annual training over all programs.
