Job Description:
As the Manager of Crew Scheduling at Southwest Airlines, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant assignment of flight crews across our network. This role is pivotal in maintaining operational integrity and supporting on-time performance by coordinating crew resources in alignment with FAA regulations, labor agreements, and company policies. You will serve as a key liaison between Crew Scheduling and the Network Operations Control (NOC), driving strategic improvements, enhancing communication, and representing scheduling functions during critical operational decisions. With a focus on safety, reliability, and Southwest Hospitality, you’ll help shape the future of Crew Scheduling while fostering a Culture of collaboration and excellence.

Responsibilities
Provide People Leadership and operational direction to Crew Schedulers and Scheduling Supervisors
Manage, develop, and coach Supervisors and Schedulers to ensure Crew Scheduling objectives and goals are achieved
Speak on behalf of Crew Scheduling regarding Crew issues or constraints during discussions with NOC Leadership
Monitor and report out on the Crew Network by writing and distributing Departmental Leadership briefings and escalate specific events as needed
Provide quality assurance to the operation by investigating delays, cancellations, and other operational Crew issues
Responsible for overseeing any special projects within the Crew Scheduling department
Act as liaison to staff management, base management, and/or Union leadership for research and resolution of contractual and procedural questions
Available for an on-call rotation to provide after-hours Leadership support to Crew Scheduling
Monitor staffing in all areas and verify that overtime is used properly
Lead, support, and influence the achievement of the mission, objectives and key results of the department and organization
Demonstrate continuous and measurable improvement in Crew Scheduling capabilities
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert of the Crew Scheduling operation, applications, federal regulations, labor contracts, and Crew Scheduling policies and procedures
Ability to work well with others as part of a Team
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Collective Bargaining Agreements and federal regulations
Ability to effectively present information, both written and verbal, and communicate with all levels of the user community as well as Leadership
Ability to demonstrate judgment sufficient to handle and resolve complex tasks including many situations that involve conflict resolution
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Ability to work under tight time constraints and in high stress situations to accomplish assignments
Ability to maintain focus on tasks while working in a busy and distracting environment
Ability and knowledge to make critical decisions
Ability to work without supervision in all functions of the Crew Scheduling department Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)

Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Crew Scheduling and airline operations
Working within Collective Bargaining Agreements
Dispute resolution
Project delivery and execution
Licensing/Certification

Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
Ability to work extended hours as needed, including nights, weekends and holidays Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $124,120 per year to $126,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company. Benefits you’ll love:
