The Manager, IT Operations will report into the Director, IT Operations and Security.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Individual Responsibilities

Operational Management
  • Manage and assist in the day-to-day operations of on-site and remote IT support, including provisioning end-user services such as help desk and technical support.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers (on premise and cloud), PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Administer all technology services, including communication & collaboration platforms (O365, Teams, Zoom, Smartsheet, Dropbox, etc.)
  • Responsible for asset management of IT hardware, software, equipment and other assets.
  • Coordinate with IT MSPs to measure availability, performance, capacity, and utilization of IT and Informatics services.
  • Manage and contribute to major aspects of compliance (SOX, 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR and CPRA)


Strategy and Planning

  • Assist with IT department operational planning and projects and organize and negotiate the allocation of IT resources.
  • Work collaboratively with IT teams, internal business partners and external vendors to identify, understand, implement and support new business capabilities, optimize processes and drive operational efficiency
  • Collaborate on cybersecurity program development and execution
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations.
  • Work collaboratively to oversee and implement all IT policies, procedures and plans for security, data center, desktops and infrastructure based on industry-standard best practices.
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on technology solutions and implementations to meet business and system requirements.
  • Maintain system documentation and configuration data for operating, regulatory, and audit purposes
  • Responsible for the implementation and on-going management of corporate network and security infrastructure and strategy
  • Handle day-to-day implementation, monitoring and operational support of security solution hardware, software, managed solutions, and service provider relationships
  • Engage in and lead information security projects that evaluate existing security infrastructure and propose changes as defined by security leadership and architects
  • Assist with the implementations of solutions observing compliance –Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), SOC 2, ISO27000, and privacy laws
  • Develop and define the vision, strategy, framework and roadmaps for global identity and access management including SSO, federation, MFA, Privileged Access Management, provisioning, access certification and role-based access control
  • Research, validate and deploy solutions meeting security and business needs
  • Influence the planning and execution of incident response and postmortem exercises, with a focus on creating measurable benchmarks to show progress (or deficiencies requiring additional attention)
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network systems, technologies, architectures, and products
Qualifications:

Primary skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Able to translate complex technical issues into plain English, easily digestible for customers and stakeholders
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to details
  • Must be able to work proactively and under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a demanding fast-paced, customer-focused organization with start-up culture with evolving processes. Flexible and able to adapt to new situations as the business demands
  • Influential and able to persuade peers and stakeholders (at various levels) and thereby overcome resistance to change and sustain support
  • Awareness of regulatory compliance and role of systems in supporting compliance & security
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across a matrix organization.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize with minimal daily instruction.
  • Experience with an out-sourced IT model in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry is preferred but a person who can work autonomously on projects and is willing and able to adapt to new responsibilities is much more important.
  • Well-versed in Microsoft technologies
  • Knowledge about cloud concepts such as SaaS, IaaS and PaaS, as well as integration of cloud systems
  • In depth knowledge regarding cybersecurity and data privacy concepts
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel/project management skills.
  • Confident self-starter who can take proactive initiative to develop projects or improvements to operational efficiency
  • Approachable, responsive and able to proactively communicate risks, issues and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a “seek to understand” mentality and strong customer service orientation
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programs
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

Level of Education Required:

  • This position requires a B.A./ B.S.

Number of Years of Experience in the Function and in the Industry:

  • 3-6 years of experience in Information Technology
