Essential Functions
- Cultivate, develop and strengthen new and existing client/customer relationships through:
- Analyzing customer needs and translating them into potential new carbon black products
- Coordinating customer product specification revisions and disseminating to relevant parties
- Providing technical service through material and product selection assistance
- Triaging customer complaints and delivering timely resolutions while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Issuing timely call reports to summarize customer discussions
- Investigating product performance issues and advising pertinent departments of potential quality improvement in product and service
- Interfacing with customers on R&D programs, plant trials, and technical exchanges
- Scheduling on-site customer visitations to enhance positive rapport and relations
- Preparing and delivering carbon black training to customers as well as technical industry groups
- Ensuring technical service objectives tie in to corporate objectives
- Supports sales department during demonstrations/presentations by:
- Obtaining appropriate plant/grade approvals
- Coordinating sampling and trials necessary to achieve approval
- Promoting specialty carbon black development and presenting its attributes to customers
- Exercise risk based thinking, ensuring the maximum value of our organization, products, and services are highly magnified.
- Diligently communicates with industry leaders and enhances the organization’s image through the following non-inclusive tasks:
- Cultivating relationships within technical communities
- Participating in industry technical group meetings and conferences
- Collaborate with internal production, research, sales, quality, and corporate personnel on various organization objectives and goals
- Lead, and conduct ISO internal audits as needed
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Any combination of Bachelor Degree in a Science related field + 5 years of rubber industry experience, Master Degree in a Science related field + 5 years of rubber industry experience, or a PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering.+ 1-2 years of rubber industry experience
- Minimum 5 years of technical experience in the rubber industry with specified knowledge in the areas of:
- Complexities of rubber compound formulating and the interaction of carbon black
- Identifying and selecting carbon black for end product performance use
- Rubber mixing, process operations, and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methodology
- Using rubber laboratory equipment and establishing best practices for processing parameters
- Possess advanced analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead various internal and external customer levels
- Exemplary skills in preparing and delivering technical presentations or training sessions
- Experience in managing multiple and diverse projects to timely completion
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office, and inter-company software platforms.
