Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will provide support to the Engineering team to support manufacturing processes and equipment in the assigned area. This position will troubleshoot and provide engineering solutions to machining lines, including tooling issues, machine set up, and investigation of quality issues relating to the machining processes.
Position Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
- Assist with Planning and installation of machinery and equipment for new or re-tooled product lines.
- Daily Manufacturing Process Monitoring and Adjustments.
- Root cause analysis and countermeasure of manufacturing Quality & Availability issues.
- Provide line support to repair and improve machines and manufacturing processes to keep production operating at its full potential.
- Trend and report on current Quality & Availability data for assigned area.
- Assist with special manufacturing or engineering projects and manufacturing efficiency when needed.
- Support new manufacturing projects and assist with planning and installation of machinery and equipment.
- Provide solutions to machining and manufacturing issues.
- Ensure all machines are set up to run most efficiently.
Required Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Production and Processing Quality— knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, 3 Pillar, and other standards and techniques for maximizing quality and availability.
- Mechanical — general knowledge of machines and tools, measurement instruments, automation/robotics, maintenance and repair.
- Five years of CNC machining experience.
- Five years of manufacturing experience in high volume production.
- Math Skills — basic knowledge of mathematics in order to understand complex instructions, how schematics work and make sure items are produced to specific specifications
- Computer Knowledge-- MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Coordination — adjusting actions in relation to others' actions and handling multiple tasks at the same time.
- Critical Thinking — using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Ability to complete CNC G and M Code Programming/Editing.
- Knowledge of basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge and understanding of metal cutting processes.
- Design — diverse knowledge in reading technical drawings in standard and metric measurements. Ability to make sketches of parts or components to be machined.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Associates or Diploma in a related Technical field is beneficial.
