Job Description
Mechanical engineering is essential to the success of our projects in the Food & Beverage sector, where precision, compliance, and reliability are non-negotiable. As a Mechanical Engineer III, you will lead the design and integration of HVAC and mechanical utility systems that support hygienic, efficient, and code-compliant manufacturing environments. Your expertise will directly contribute to the performance and safety of facilities that produce consumable goods at scale.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver mechanical solutions tailored to the unique demands of food-grade processing, packaging, and clean utility systems. This position offers the opportunity to influence project outcomes from concept through construction, while advancing sustainable design practices and supporting operational excellence in regulated environments.
Core Activities
Design & Engineering
- Develop HVAC and mechanical utility systems for buildings and industrial processes.
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, utility assessments, and code evaluations.
- Create design reports, P&IDs, plans, schedules, and installation details.
Project Leadership
- Manage the mechanical scope and budget for small to medium-sized projects.
- Lead design efforts across all phases: concept, schematic, design development, construction documents, and administration.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and vendors.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with internal and external teams to ensure cohesive, constructible designs.
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and support field activities during construction.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training efforts.
Tools & Technology
- Use BIM tools (Revit), AutoCAD, and engineering software for modeling and calculations.
- Leverage Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, and other platforms to manage deliverables.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus) from an ABET-accredited program.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in HVAC and mechanical systems design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.
- Experience working in an AEC firm environment.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred
- Experience in Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, or GMP manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA).
- LEED, WELL, or other sustainability credentials.
- Experience with field surveys, plumbing design, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of Revit plugins (e.g., Enscape, Unifi) and parametric tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino).

The pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is based in Denver is typically $103,125 to $165,000 annually. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. The selected candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, including but not limited to work location, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition, CRB offers a total rewards package that includes comprehensive insurance coverage as well as the opportunity to participate in one or more annual incentive programs based on company and individual performance.
