Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support in various medical settings, including outpatient clinics, urgent care facilities, and hospitals. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient service, and the ability to perform clinical tasks efficiently while ensuring a positive experience for patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform intake assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and monitor patient responses
- Prepare patients for X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and ensure compliance with medical coding practices (ICD coding)
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinical environment
Experience
- Previous experience in dermatology, urgent care, or hospital medicine is preferred
- Familiarity with emergency medicine practices and level I or II trauma center operations is advantageous
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and basic life support is essential
- Experience in outpatient settings or clinics is highly desirable
- Proficiency in EHR systems for effective documentation and patient management
- Exposure to various specialties such as geriatrics, internal medicine, medical-surgical units, PICU, OR experience is a plus
