McKinley Health Center aims to provide high-quality ambulatory healthcare and health education to students and medical expertise to University leadership. Our staff works on campus with an academically talented and ethnically diverse student population, including international students totaling 22.2 percent of the total student population, 18.8 percent for Asian American students, 11 percent for Latinx/e students, 5.0 percent for African American students, and 3.2 percent for multiracial students, with a total enrollment of over 56,000 students.
Job Summary
Duties & Responsibilities
- Take vital signs (temp, pulse, respiration BP, HT & WT, if indicated) on incoming patients or as directed.
- Deliver charts each day to providers' rooms and remove patients' charts after clinicians have completed charting or dictating.
- Escort or place patients in providers' rooms and have them ready for examination.
- Assist patients as needed.
- Assist providers and nurses as needed.
- Assist the providers with examinations, treatments and procedures under the supervision of a nurse (RN or LPN).
- Transport patients to other departments.
- Supply, instrument and equipment maintenance.
- Care of examination rooms.
- Clerical duties.
Additional Physical Demands
Position involves remaining in motion for several hours at a time and moving items weighing upwards of 20 lbs.Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to obtain CPR certification
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Knowledge and skill of aseptic and sterilization techniques
- Knowledge of infection control measures
- Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with patients
- Ability to work efficiently
- Ability to make decisions based on urgency of the situation and in accordance with work procedures and clinic policies
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4547 - Medical Assistant position, appointed on a 9-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 9/15/2025. Hourly rate for this position is $21.02 per hour; work schedule is 9:00am - 5:30pm with occasional Saturdays.
