Here at West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine we are a growing and expanding Primary Care facility. We are actively seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join our offices located in Deland and Orange City, FL. This is a full-time position. You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team focusing in the areas of Family and Sports medicine. Under medical supervision, Medical Assistant aids providers in the delivery of health care services. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Identify patient's chief complaint and record observations in patient's medical record.

  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatment by Provider.

  • Perform height, weight, vital signs, and vision tests and record them in the medical record

  • Conduct tests and procedures as directed, such as EKG's, non-stress tests, spirometer, venipunctures, skin punctures, strep screen, glucometer, and urine tests.

  • Assist Providers with treatments and examinations of patients such as injections, wound care, and pelvic exams.

  • Assist in the identification of psychosocial needs and consults with Provider.

  • Prepare referral forms as directed, such as prescriptions, treatment authorization, insurance, disability, and employment physical forms.

  • Stock patient rooms and labs with appropriate supplies.

  • Transcribe Provider’s orders and prepares appropriate requisitions, forms, and calls to pharmacy.

  • Daily follow up of messages.

  • Notify patient of any change ordered by Provider.

  • Ensure Provider signs charts, labs, prescriptions, diagnostics daily.

  • Maintain patient flow after check in.

  • Prepare all charts for the following day’s appointments

  • Communicate abnormal lab results to Provider

  • Document all phone calls with patients.


May assist more than one provider at a time. Complies with office policies and procedures, OSHA Standards and HIPAA Privacy Regulations as stated in HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.


Minimum requirements:

Non-Certified Medical Assistant / Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution approved by the State of Florida, or a MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR OF EXPERIENCE working in a health care setting that included direct patient contract or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and provides the required knowledge and abilities


Abilities required: Excellent clinical skills to include knowledge of HEDIS, injection, EKG and phlebotomy. Experience with eClinical Works is a plus.
