Pipeline Behavioral Health Services has positions open to hire a full-time and/or part-time Medical Biller to work in our Lyndhurst, Ohio Office.
Medical Billers perform many accounting, customer service and organizational tasks to promote the financial health of our organization. The candidate must possess a strong knowledge of Health Care Operations. They must have strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate with clients and collaborate with insurance companies, third party institutions and other team members to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors.
The best candidate for the job must be self-motivated and possess knowledge on processing billing for all Commercial Insurances, Medicaid and Medicare. You must have a working knowledge of the TherapyNotes® Behavioral Health EHR/EMR System, or the ability to learn the system. It will be your responsibility to activate and utilize additional billing components in the system.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Must be experienced with Insurance Coverage Verification, Obtaining Authorizations and collecting copayments, deductibles or other applicable insurance fees.
- Inputting client’s payment history, upcoming payment information or other financial data into the agency’s EHR system
- Have a working knowledge of third party payer electronic billing (835/837), claim submission, posting payments and working denials
- Review and process medical bills for insurance claims
- Has experience in ICD coding standards and is able to analyze data for billing or clinical irregularities, i.e., identify overlapping services, incorrect coding etc. and has the ability and initiative to research any irregularities and take corrective actions.
- Searching client’s Billing statements for any payment inconsistencies or errors and make needed corrections
- Create invoices and billing materials (through Therapy Notes – ERA) to be sent directly to a client
- Have or must acquire a basic knowledge of the Therapy Notes Software Billing System & Protocols
- Experienced with QuickBooks or other bookkeeping systems
- Possess a general understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred
- Experience: One year minimum of medical billing experience required; Previous experience in mental health billing, coding experience preferred
- Verifiable experience and certificate training in lieu of education may be acceptable.
