Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accuracy in medical coding, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is crucial in facilitating smooth operations within the medical office and ensuring that all billing-related tasks are completed efficiently.
Duties
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government agencies.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any discrepancies.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries and issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a medical office setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and healthcare billing processes.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is preferred but not required.
