Position Summary:
Mallard Medical Supply is seeking a dependable and compassionate Durable Medical Equipment Delivery Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering, setting up, and providing basic instruction on the use of medical equipment in patients' homes. You will also assist with inventory management, minor equipment repairs, and warehouse organization.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, professional, and has a heart for helping others maintain their health and independence at home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely deliver and set up a variety of medical equipment in patient homes (e.g., oxygen concentrators, hospital beds, wheelchairs, CPAP machines).
- Instruct patients and caregivers on the proper use and care of equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs of medical equipment.
- Load and unload equipment safely, maintaining cleanliness and proper function.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including patient signatures and equipment tracking.
- Receive incoming inventory and assist with organizing and tracking equipment in the warehouse.
- Clean and prepare equipment for reuse according to company standards and infection control protocols.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
- Follow all company, state, and federal guidelines for handling and transporting medical equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks, including stair climbing and equipment maneuvering.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience with DME or in a healthcare setting is a plus, but not required—we will train the right person.
Work Environment:
- Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional on-call or after-hours delivery.
- Mixture of warehouse work and patient home visits.
- Exposure to medical environments and infection control procedures.
