SUMMARY
This is an internship position within RS EDEN’s mental health and trauma recovery program. The Mental Health Intern position will manage a small caseload of 10-12 hours of service per week with individual, couples, and family clients, and co-facilitate group therapy with the RS EDEN Recovery Program as supported by the Clinical Supervisor. The Intern will independently facilitate RS EDEN group therapy as assigned. The position requires collaboration with the clinical team to deliver high quality mental health services to individuals who may have justice involvement and trauma histories. Services are provided across RS EDEN programs including in an outpatient mental health clinic, residential substance abuse treatment, reentry housing, and across individual and family supportive housing sites.
The ideal Intern candidate should have a passion for providing community-based services, a commitment to a high level of care to all clients, including those who are reluctant to receiving services, and to believe in second chances and people’s capacity to heal. The role demands the ability to manage crisis situations in a professional and therapeutic manner. This position requires strong organizational skills and a basic understanding of the business realities of providing fee-for-service care. The Intern candidate should thrive in a collaborative environment, be eager to address challenges, and be dedicated to integrating high quality mental health care into underserved settings.
Pay range: $16-$18 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Weekly Supervision with Clinical Supervisor and/or assigned Supervisor.
- Maintain a caseload of 10-12 direct client hours per week, as assigned and supported by the Clinical Supervisor.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and create treatment plans for clients, supported by Supervisor.
- Complete and submit all documentation and client records in compliance with organization policies and relevant state and federal regulations as instructed by Supervisor.
- Provide high quality therapy services using evidence-based, trauma responsive, and systemic approaches.
- Collaborate with clinical team and interdisciplinary teams across RS EDEN programs to enhance client care, as direct and supported by Supervisor.
- Attend and participate in all clinical staff meetings and professional development trainings.
- Co-facilitate/facilitate RS EDEN Recovery groups as assigned
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients to foster trust and progress.
- Collaborate with the team to promote a sustainable and supportive work environment.
- Ensure proper coordination of care for clients and work in partnership with other professionals involved in their treatment as guided by Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s mission and client needs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
This is a paid temporary position for students within an education program with the need to complete internship/practicum for educational requirements and licensure as an MHP (LPCC, LMFT, LICSW). Length of internship is based on the individual’s required hours for internship completion and will be defined at the start of the internship term. Consideration for paid internship will be given to candidates with:
- At least 1 year previous experience in the human services field and/or related lived experience.
- Minimum level of education is a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Enrolled in a Master’s Degree program. (LPCC, LPC, LMFT, LICSW)
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a favorable background check.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds impacted by systems and barriers.
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve and make sound decisions.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues in support RS EDEN’s mission and vision.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Proficient in using multiple database systems.
- Fluent use of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain discretion and adhere to confidentiality policies.
- Two years free of any problems associated with chemical dependency. Employees directly responsible for persons being served by the program are prohibited from abusing prescription medication or being in any manner under the influence of a chemical that impairs the individual’s ability to provide services or care.
