We are seeking a LE Clinician for our Outpatient team in Suffolk, VA!
Responsibilities and Duties for LE Clinician:
- Teach consumers appropriate strategies to manage behavioral and mental health symptoms
- Assist with consumer service plans related to identified needs and goals
- Assist consumers in gaining access to appropriate medical, psychiatric, social, educational, vocational and other support and services
- Provide consumer training/reinforcement, linkage to supports/services
- Advocate on behalf of consumer, family and providers
- Monitor/assess service delivery
- Behavior management and crisis intervention.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Human Service field
- Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work required
- Five (5) years experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse or who are dually diagnosed.
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable DMV record.

To Apply:
1. Complete screenings and comprehensive diagnostic assessments of individuals to determine medical necessity and eligibility for mental health and/or substance abuse services.
2. Guide individuals referred to WTCSB through a staged intake process in which eligibility, treatment readiness and motivation to change is determined; and intake and referral for direct service provision in completed.
3. Complete eligibility assessments and service authorization requests for third party payers.
4. Review and sign clinical and eligibility assessments completed by program staff.
5. Conduct and/or interpret standardized assessments to determine behavioral support needs including but not limited to the CANS, MCAS and DAST.
6. Develop and implement individual service plans at initiation of services.
7. Develop individual crisis plans that include the individual’s preferences regarding treatment in an emergency.
8. Conduct treatment readiness, orientation and motivational enhancement groups to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse diagnoses.
9. Monitor individuals on the agency intake waiting list for changes in eligibility and identified service needs.
10. Provide crisis stabilization services and/or refer persons in crisis to Emergency Services who are on the waiting list and/or prior to intake.
11. Review and authorize individual service plans and quarterly summaries developed by program staff.
12. Complete documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations and WTCSB policy and procedures.
13. Make referrals to and work closely with other WTCSB departments/services including but not limited to: the medical department, Out Patient Services, Adult Rehabilitative Services, Case Management, and Children’s Services.
14. Make referrals to community service providers for those individuals who do not meet WTCSB eligibility requirements.
15. Work with private community based children’s service providers making referrals for state mandated Child & Family Assessments.
16. Comply with Human Rights Regulations/Reporting procedures.
17. Serve as a member of external and /or internal committees, attending meetings as requested or needed.
18. Perform other duties as assigned, related to program requirements and the provision of related mental health services.
