Position Overview:
Independence Classical Academy is a classical charter school committed to cultivating virtue and academic excellence, seeks a dedicated and dynamic Middle School/High School Physical Education Teacher to lead students in the development of physical fitness, character, and sportsmanship. The PE teacher will implement a robust curriculum that integrates classical principles with physical development, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a comprehensive physical education program for grades 6–10 that promotes physical fitness, coordination, and healthy lifestyles.
- Foster an environment of respect, discipline, and character consistent with the school’s classical mission.
- Teach the fundamentals of various sports and activities while encouraging teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate physical education with the school's broader emphasis on classical virtues and moral development.
- Organize and supervise intramural and interscholastic sports and activities, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, growth, and assessment.
- Ensure the safety of students at all times and maintain equipment and facilities in good order.
- Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student performance and behavior.
