Varsity Hub is a community-driven sports networking app designed to connect fans, athletes, coaches, and freelancers around local games. Our mission is to bring people together to experience sports in real time — sharing moments, stats, and connections all in one visually engaging platform.
We’re looking for a skilled mobile app developer to help us take Varsity Hub from concept to a polished, scalable product.
Responsibilities
You will work closely with our design and product team to implement core features, including:
- Geo-mapping & Search
- Pin exact addresses for events.
- Implement “nearby games” search functionality.
- Payment Integration
- Integrate Stripe for:
- New account onboarding payments.
- Freelance monthly memberships.
- User Onboarding
- Messaging System
- Direct messages with age-based restrictions
- RSVP & Event Capacity System
- Users can RSVP to games/events.
- Create invite links and set capacity limits.
- Discover Page Implementation
- Search game details, player details, and stats.
- Pull live game data from partnered sports data provider APIs.
- Freelance Marketplace Features
- Live Score Integration
- Implement live game tracking via third-party API for high school and local-level sports.
Qualifications
- Proven experience building iOS and/or Android apps (React Native, Flutter, Swift, or Kotlin).
- Experience with Stripe or similar payment systems.
- Familiarity with Firebase or similar backends for authentication, chat, and data storage.
- Experience integrating mapping APIs (Google Maps API, Mapbox).
- Understanding of API integration for sports/live score data.
- Knowledge of database structures for event and user management.
- Strong attention to UI/UX detail and ability to follow style guides.
- Bonus: experience with age-gated chat or compliance for youth privacy (COPPA).
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $1,500.00 per month
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Stamford, CT 06907
