Transport Driver

A2Rides is hiring Transport Drivers to join our team in Virginia!

Schedule: Monday – Saturday - Weekends highly preferred.

8-12 hour shifts daily.

Job Overview:

As a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver, you will be responsible for transporting patients to and from medical appointments, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Your primary objective will be to ensure the safe and comfortable transportation of individuals who require assistance but do not require emergency medical care. Your compassionate nature, excellent driving skills, and customer service abilities will be essential in providing a positive and reliable experience for patients during their transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Transportation: Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from medical facilities using a company-provided vehicle. This includes picking up patients from their homes, assisting them in boarding and exiting the vehicle, and ensuring their well-being throughout the journey.

2. Schedule Management: Coordinate and manage daily transportation schedules by reviewing assigned routes, understanding specific patient requirements, and adhering to predetermined pickup and drop-off times. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and supervisors to address any changes or issues that may arise.

3. Passenger Assistance: Provide appropriate assistance to patients with limited mobility, disabilities, or medical equipment requirements. Safely secure wheelchairs, stretchers, or other necessary equipment within the vehicle, ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers during transit.

4. Vehicle Maintenance and Safety: Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the transportation vehicle. Report any mechanical issues, damages, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle at all times.

5. Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of transportation services provided, including mileage logs, patient information, and incident reports. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare staff, displaying professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.

6. Professionalism and Customer Service: Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with patients and their families, exhibiting empathy, patience, and respect. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient needs, answering inquiries, and resolving any concerns or complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner.

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

- Previous experience in transportation, customer service, or healthcare-related field is preferred.

- Familiarity with basic first aid and CPR procedures is a plus.

- Ability to operate specialized medical transportation equipment (e.g., wheelchair lifts, stretcher restraints) and assist patients with mobility devices.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including patients, healthcare professionals, and coworkers.

- Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to assist and care for others.

- Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively manage schedules and routes.

- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately.

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy medical equipment and assist patients with mobility devices.

- Good vision and hearing to operate a vehicle safely and communicate effectively.

- Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods, as well as bend, reach, and carry when necessary.

***DRIVER***

- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment Drug Screening.
- Must have a working Cell Phone to facilitate communication.
- Must have a valid Virginia Driver's License. Other acceptable Licenses: MD, DC.
- Must have a clean Driving Record.
- Must be licensed for at least 2 years.
- Must know how to utilize GPS maps.
- Must utilize hand free devices (such as Bluetooth headsets).
