An experienced Ophthalmic Technician /Assistant is sought for our private ophthalmology practice in Durham. Do you prefer a small, personable experience rather than being lost in a big system? The position requires at least 1 full year of experience working with an ophthalmologist as an ophthalmic technician or assistant, and at least one year of prior experience with the following
-Taking patient history
-Checking Visual Acuity
-Checking IOPs (Goldman applanation)
-Assessing Pupils, EOMS, and Confrontation Fields
-Manual/Manifest Refractions.
-Visual Fields, OCTs, IOL Master, Topography, Pachymetry
Applicants should already be very familiar with all of the above aspects of ophthalmology patient workups.

Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists in patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
- Manage patient intake and maintain medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education on eye care and assist with optical sales as needed.
- Utilize EMR systems to document patient interactions and support office operations efficiently.
