Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care to patients. Your responsibilities will include performing diagnostic tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to examination.
Duties
- Conduct preliminary eye exams and gather patient medical histories.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Assist in the preparation of patients for examinations and procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Provide education to patients regarding eye health and treatment options.
- Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
- Collaborate with the medical team to ensure efficient patient flow and care.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye.
- Experience in a medical office setting, preferably with exposure to medical coding.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and technology related to ophthalmology.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing patient records and appointments.
