Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting the optometrist in providing excellent eye care services to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include performing preliminary eye examinations, conducting diagnostic tests, and assisting with patient care.
Job Responsibilities
The job would include but is not limited to:
- Greeting patients as they arrive in the clinic
- Answering a multi-line phone system to schedule appointments for three doctors and special testing, order contact lenses, and answer general questions
- Collecting patient demographics, insurance information and verify patient eligibility through their medical and vision insurance
- Responsible for emails, messages, and forwarding calls to the appropriate staff members
- Verifying correct prescriptions in lenses and frames when they come in from labs
- Conduct preliminary examinations, including measuring visual acuity and intraocular pressure using specialized instruments
- Perform diagnostic tests such as retinal imaging, visual field testing, and optical coherence tomography.
- Assist with contact lens fittings and provide instructions on proper lens insertion and removal
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Provide support to the optometrist during procedures and treatments
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems is a plus
- Retail sales or front desk experience is beneficial
- Must be able to work at least two Saturdays a month
- Previous experience as an optometric technician is preferred but is not required. We will train the right candidate for the job!
