WoVets LLC is seeking a qualified Optometrist to conduct eye and vision exams for military Veterans applying for disability and compensation benefits. This is a part-time, 1099 contract opportunity with no diagnosis or treatment involved.
All training, scheduling, and documentation guidance will be provided, allowing you to focus on what matters most: helping Veterans.
***You must currently have your own office within 100 miles of this location where you will see Veterans. The office must meet OSHA and ADA requirements and have the equipment necessary for these exams.***

What You’ll Do:
- Apply your clinical expertise in the evaluation and diagnosis of eye and vision conditions to support a Veteran’s disability claim
- Gather and synthesize clinical evidence through medical and military record review, diagnostic testing, interviews with Veterans, and face-to-face structured examinations
- Develop a medical opinion of likelihood that the Veteran’s condition is related to their military service through objective, evidence-based findings
- Complete electronic Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) within 48 hours
- Respond promptly to any necessary addendums
Here is a typical workflow for a provider:
Exam Request Received > Testing and Exam Schedule > Provider Reviews Records > Veteran Exam Completion > Report Reviewed and Submitted within 24-48 hours of exam
Qualifications
Optometrist
- Doctor of Optometry (OD)
- Active and unrestricted license in state where exams are performed
- Must have own malpractice insurance
- Two years of experience preferred
- Prior experience with disability exams is a plus, but not required. Training is provided.
- Strong written communication skills (required)
- Attention to detail and comfort with electronic medical documentation
