Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometry Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. You will assist optometrists in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while maintaining a welcoming environment for patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Perform preliminary tests, including measuring vital signs, visual acuity, and ocular health assessments.
- Collect and record patient medical histories, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options available in the practice.
- Manage patient flow and scheduling to optimize appointment times and enhance patient experience.
- Maintain accurate records of patient visits and treatments in accordance with medical office protocols.
- Support retail sales by assisting patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their needs.
- Stay updated on optical products, medical terminology, and advancements in ophthalmology to provide informed recommendations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or optometry setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of retail math principles to assist with sales transactions effectively.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care and ophthalmology.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Experience in pediatrics is a plus, as you may interact with younger patients.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on providing outstanding patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
