JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled OSP Fiber Construction Technician to support aerial and underground fiber deployment across multiple states, primarily starting from the Florida Panhandle. This is a full-time, travel-based position requiring flexibility and a strong work ethic to perform in diverse jobsite environments.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on work, understands the demands of fiber construction, and is comfortable traveling throughout the region to support ongoing builds. You'll assist in implementing network infrastructure by working directly with construction crews, engineers, and survey teams to ensure timely, safe, and quality-focused project delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the construction of aerial and underground fiber optic networks (FTTH, backbone, and lateral builds).
- Perform route walkouts and verify constructability for fiber installations.
- Interpret construction plans, identify obstacles, and recommend field modifications as needed.
- Assist with pole loading data collection, ROW evaluations, and traffic control setup.
- Operate and maintain field tools including measuring wheels, range finders, and GPS units.
- Conduct jobsite safety assessments and adhere to industry standards.
- Communicate construction progress, issues, and updates with internal teams and supervisors.
- Travel throughout Florida and neighboring states (up to 75%) to support project locations.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; construction or telecom certifications are a plus.
- 1+ year of field experience in OSP construction, fiber deployment, or telecom utility work preferred.
- Working knowledge of underground and aerial fiber construction practices.
- Comfortable reading blueprints, construction prints, and GIS maps.
- Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and data collection apps.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.
- Physically fit for extended outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and self-motivation.
