Job Summary & Description:
Empowered Services seeks to build a team of responsible, caring, and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Newberg area. Your goal will be to develop meaningful relationships that build confidence & independence and passionately help those with intellectual & developmental disabilities to live a more fulfilled and happy life.
Working one on one with each customer you serve, you will assess their needs, work towards meeting desired outcomes, and tend to them accordingly with the goal of fostering a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Our DSPs are our customers helpers, mentors, and advocates.
HERE IS ONE OF OUR AVAILABLE CUSTOMERS:
329: Adult male in the NW Portland area. He is ver curious and active and loves to go out into his community. He is very organized and is particular about his routine and the time of his daily activities. He would love to find a friendly, bubbly, DSP who can keep up with him and help him stay engaged. He would prefer that his DSP has prior experience in working with individuals with autism.
The schedule he is needing to be filled is: Thursdays from 4:30p-7:30p & Saturdays from 9:30a-12:30p
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience with the I/DD community is preferred but not required.
- Must pass a background check. - *Not all charges will warrant a disqualification.
- Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record.
- Must have your own reliable vehicle, with full coverage auto insurance.
- Must be willing to assist customers with bathrooming and hygiene needs.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting pay is between $23-25 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
- Full-Time (30+ hours a week) employees are eligible for:

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Embody integrity, honesty, and dependability.
- Assist with customers many daily living needs, including but not limited to: nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication & social skills, behavioral supports, mobility & transportation needs and household chores.
- Work closely with customers to create daily schedules and plan for exciting adventures or events in their communities.
- Help customer meet their goals & desired outcomes. Track customers progress and report feedback to their County Coordinator.
- Encourage and foster customers skill development, preferred hobbies, interests, and community connections.
- Develop meaningful relationships and connections with your customer(s). Let's empower them to recognize their voice, worth, and belonging within our community!
- Routinely check in with their County Coordinator and report any issues within a timely manner.
- Follow all health and safety protocols.
- Complete state required training as needed.
- Show compassion, patience, and understanding. Caregivers also serve as role models, advocates and companions to their customers. So, you must be willing to make a difference in someone's life.
