Job Summary:
The Pittsburgh Penguins are looking for a part-time mascot performer to assist in the role of Iceburgh for select appearances, with a focus on daytime, weekday appearances. The position is part-time and reports to the Senior Marketing Manager.
This position will represent the Pittsburgh Penguins in a professional and entertaining manner to maximize fan experiences year-round at events such as partner appearance and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation events, school and community appearances and more.
Iceburgh is a beloved member of the Penguins brand identity and the city of Pittsburgh overall. This position requires professionalism and also the ability to make an impact with every appearance by bringing joy to fans.
This mascot performer will not be the primary performer for game nights, but will serve as a back-up should our game night performer be unavailable.
Other Skills and Responsibilities:
- Previous mascot experience is preferred
- Ability to communicate emotions and engage with fans using gestures and body language
- Outgoing personality and great with people of all ages
- Continued upkeep of cleanliness and maintenance of the mascot costume
- Ability to perform skits and do improv
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure
- Attention to detail and punctuality
- Comfortable performing in costume for extended periods of time in a range of environments
- Must properly fit the mascot costume
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. (for costume handling)
- Knowledge of hockey is preferred
- Ability to skate in the costume is a plus, but not a requirement
