Being a pawnbroker is fun. You get to meet a wide variety of people from all walks of life. You will become familiar with all sorts of merchandise to include jewelry, tools, guns, electronics, etc. People skills are essential. Jay's Pawn Shops loans money on nearly anything of value. In time, the employee will become proficient in determining the value of items and be able to loan appropriate sums to help as many people as possible. A background check will be conducted on all applicants to insure they can legally work with firearms. It's imperative that we keep the store clean and well merchandised. A fresh eye, new ideas and creative spirit are always welcome. Computer skills are important. We use computers to do our job as we seek to determine the value of specific items. We also enter each pawn transaction into the computer database.
