Job Summary
The People and Talent Generalist will run the daily functions of the People and Talent (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, assisting with administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Generalist will work closely with the department to ensure that up-to-date policies comply with all relevant laws. The Generalist reports to the Senior Vice President of People and Talent.
Responsibilities
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams, and certifications.
- Recruits for corporate employees' interviews and facilitates hiring qualified applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Performs routine tasks to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave, employee recognition and morale, and workers' compensation.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Manage unemployment claims and coordinate the necessary documentation.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Support various People and Talent projects and initiatives as needed to enhance overall People and Talent functions.
Requirements
- *Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Workday-related software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an HR role, preferably with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols, WC, Auto, and GL claims management.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
