We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Legal Assistant to join our Personal Injury Department. This role supports both litigation and pre-litigation teams, providing essential administrative and case management assistance. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process outgoing mail (FedEx, Certified, etc.)
- Manage incoming mail, client documents and files
- Process invoice payments and requests
- Data entry
- File original documents and maintain organized filing systems
- Conduct background research: criminal checks, social media checks, driving records, PeopleMap, and Secretary of State searches
- Perform courthouse runs
- Track follow-up items such as Sheriff service
- Monitor court calendars and assist with preparing minor settlement hearing packets
- Provide occasional translation support
- Provide miscellaneous notary services
- Create and maintain special project folders for incoming litigation cases
Qualifications:
- Prior law firm or legal assistant experience preferred (personal injury a plus).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficiency with case management software and e-filing systems (training provided).
- Notary Public (or ability to obtain).
- Candidate doesn’t have to be bilingual (but a plus)
- Candidate must be able to work in-office (Raleigh or Durham) 5 days a week.
